Free admission, fireworks, and plenty
of family fun— It’s all in
honor of the Charles W. Morgan and it’s all happening
November 10, from 10 am - 7:30 pm at Mystic Seaport!
The 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan
arrived at Mystic Seaport
in November of 1941. Since then more than 20 million Museum visitors have
walked her decks and discovered her storied history. To celebrate the 71st
anniversary of the whaleship’s arrival in Mystic, we’re throwing a party
you're invited to join the festivities! The Museum will be offering free admission to all visitors that day.
Join us for special Morgan-related presentations and demonstrations,
including talks by the shipwrights working on the whaleship’s restoration, live
music from the Museum’s chanteymen, and numerous activities for
adults and children. See a planetarium show that explores
the night sky the Morgan’s crew used to guide the vessel and discover an
artistic interpretation of the whaleship and her restoration in the exhibit,
“Restoring a Past, Charting a Future: An Artistic Discovery of America's Whaling Legacy by Dalvero Academy."
When it’s time to eat, enjoy a special lunch
menu at Latitude 41°
Restaurant & Tavern. One-price dining is being offered as part of Mystic Restaurant
: lunch for $12 and dinner for $20.12 (not including tax and gratuity). The Museum’s Galley Restaurant will also be open for
dining until 7 p.m.
Then find a comfortable place to settle in to watch the perfect ending to our celebration—a
spectacular fireworks show over the historic Mystic River! Fireworks will begin
promptly at 7 p.m. and last approximately 20 minutes.
